Please note that Wednesday 15 September is a public holiday in Slovakia—the Fund will therefore be closed. Hard-copy versions of applications for Standard Grants can still be personally delivered a day after or mailed with a 16 September postmark. On-line applications are, however, only accepted within the regular deadlines (i.e. by 23.59 CET on 15 September). Thank you for understanding.
10/08/2010—CALL FOR PROPOSALS
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Visegrad Group (see more on the first Visegrad Summit), the International Visegrad Fund in cooperation with the four respective foreign ministries plan to mark the anniversary with a public debate and accompanying events which are to take place in Brussels, Belgium in February 2011. Proposals are accepted until 16 September 2010.

Visegrad Scholarship at Open Society Archives
The International Visegrad Fund (IVF) launches a new program of research fellowships at the Open Society Archives (OSA) at the Central European University in Budapest. Heads of both institutions—IVF’s Executive Director Petr Vágner and OSA’s Director István Rév—signed the contract in the presence of the Czech Foreign Minister Jan Kohout in Prague earlier today. The program will offer 8 fellowships annually to scholars, researchers and journalists from the Visegrad Group (V4) countries and 2 annual fellowships to non-V4 applicants. More information:

The International Visegrad Fund hosted a visit of 20 young diplomats from the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland yesterday. The Fund’s representatives held a presentation and a discussion about the structure and activities of the Visegrad Group and of the International Visegrad Fund.

The Council of Ambassadors approved yesterday the nomination of Mr. Luboš Veselý as the Honorary Trustee of the International Visegrad Fund for Ukraine. Mr. Veselý will be based at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Kyiv and will promote the Fund’s activities in Ukraine and provide consultations to Ukrainian applicants.

Please note that beginning with 1 March 2010 deadline of Small Grants all applications for grants will have to contain a copy of registration documents (for legal entities) or an ID, e.g. a passport (for natural persons), of each project partner. Thank you for understanding.

Scholars Eligible for Travel Grants
Please take note of the updated Rules of the Visegrad Scholarship Program approved by the Conference of Ministers (CA) on 12 November 2009. Among other changes, the CA approved the launch of travel grants as part of the scholarships—any scholar whose host university is further than 1,500 km from his/her present university or employer is eligible.

The unique quintlingual book project called Visegrád 1335 brings in a single publication the collection of the 14th-century charters which inspired the modern cooperation in central Europe—the Visegrad Group. The book also contains a study into the historical background. All public schools and libraries can request a copy of the book here.

As of today Mr. Petr Vágner assumes duties as the Executive Director of the International Visegrad Fund replacing Amb. Kristóf Forrai whose 3-year mission ended in July 2009. Mr. Vágner is the first representative of the Czech Republic in the position.

22/06/2009—Sums for Small/Standard Grants Raised by €1,000
The Council of Ambassadors approved raising the maximum supported sum for Small Grants to €5,000. Correspondingly, the minimum sum for projects within the Standard Grants is raised to €5,001. The new rules are valid as of today, i.e. the new sums apply first to the September deadlines of Small and Standard Grants.

The work of the International Visegrad Fund was praised by the prime ministers of the Visegrad Group countries at the annual summit in Wieliczka (PL) yesterday. The decision was taken to increase the countries’ annual contributions to the Fund’s budget by €250,000, amounting to the total budget of €6 million.

The Conference of Ministers of Foreign Affairs decided on 24 November 2008 that the rules of the Visegrad Scholarship Program (VSP) are applicable to Kosovar scholars, i.e. Kosovar scholars are eligible for Visegrad scholarships within the In-Coming Scheme.
08/07/2008—Scholarships Open for Applicants from AM, AZ and GE
As of 2009, scholars from altogether 17 countries can apply for scholarships at the Fund (newly including scholars from Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia).

Thanks to its original concept and design excellence, the “Visegrad Fund” logo has been selected from the innovative three-tier jury of the European Logo Design Annual (Eulda) for the “Best Of Nation 2007″ award.

“Projects financed from the increased 5 million Euro budget of the International Visegrad Fund fostering people-to-people contacts and involving the civil society, launching the new web site of the Visegrad Group (www.visegradgroup.eu) and the new V4 logo have undoubtedly positively contributed to the strengthening of the Central European identity.”
